Hardy’s World Amusement Park in Ludhiana
The daily grind of our work lives and the pressure of social commitments had pushed our family life into a rut. Me and my husband are both working professionals and finding quality time to spend with our kids was increasingly becoming a challenge. Most of our friends were also facing the same time crunch and finally we decided to look for a fun place where we could chill out and have a fun time with our kids. Finally one of my colleagues recommended the Hardy’s World Amusement Park to us saying that it had great entertainment facilities. So one fine holiday morning both of us set out for Hardy’s World Amusement Park with a friend and his family.
Rides in Hardy’s World Amusement Park
There were so many exciting rides that we could choose from in the park that initially we were confused. However we decided to o ahead and try out the most interesting looking ones.Pendulum
Since this was an adult’s only ride (children below the age 12 were not allowed) only 4 of us got up on it. This is a dragon nosed wooden boat which swings its body to an angle of 180 degree pushing up the excitement levels. Slowly the Pendulum increased its momentum and we screamed our lungs out.Roller Coaster
This ride was again not suitable for kids as the 100 km per hour speed and the fantastically sharp drop of 20 feet is likely to scare them away. The adrenaline rush we got from this super ride kept our hearts beating out loud for minutes afterwards.Caterpillar
The cute and funny looking caterpillar kept inching its way on its zigzag track producing a wheezing sound. This was basically a kid’s ride and the slow and gentle pace helped up capture shots of our kids having a blast and giggling away to glory.Cups and Saucers
This pretty ride was kids only and the concept was so visually appealing that we couldn’t keep our camera away. Giant Lemon yellow and strawberry pink colored saucers and cups with cracks 9through which kids can slip in) kept rotating on the dais.Hardy’s Train
This was again one of the most amazing rides we tried out as a family. The colorful train took all of us on a complete tour of Hardy’s world all the while letting out quaint puffs of steam and long whistles. My daughter actually thought she was on a real train and kept looking around for the conductor to arrive.Dream Girl
We were expecting something ground breaking but this turned out to be a simple merry go round which centered on a giant wax figurine or the “Dream Girl”. This ride was only okay types though the kids had a lot of fun on it.Bull Ride
The guide in Hardy’s Park had told us that The Bull ride actually teaches kids how to balance themselves. True to the promise our kids kept on scrambling on off the life sized chocolate colored bulls trying to ride them like matadors.Horror House
This was not actually a ride but a scary house concept where lots of ghoulish figures, wax Dracula’s, hanging hands and mock thrills awaited us. For kids this can be a thrilling and really scary episode.Water Park in Hardy’s World
The Water Park was what all of us were looking out for since we were all hot and sweaty from the good number of rides that we had taken. The Hardy’ S world water park had several sections in it like Kiddies’ Pool and Water Shoot Pool and the Rain Dance Section etc.Kid’s Pool
We were happy to see that the pool was safe (only had 2 feet water) and was dotted with giant umbrellas, mock ships and fun slides which enraptured the kids. We had to drag them out by force.Rain Dance: This section was completely amazing with hip hop music thumping to the beat of splashing sprays of water. There was a great collection of dance music right from Honey Singh to Shakira. 10,000 watts of pure sound and disco lights and special showers made us dance our legs off.
Speed Slide
This was the favorite ride for my kids as they had a blast jumping around in the slides as it whooshed them down into a sparkling pool of water. Childhood games of puddle splashing in the monsoons were revisited.Multi Activity Pool
This was an area where we adults spent the time while our kids splashed around in the Kid’s Pool and the Speed Slide. The Multi activity pool offered myriad water wheels, mini fountains, water jet enhanced pressure fountain platforms and mushroom and fish shaped sprinklers. The attendant at the poolside informed us that new additions were being incorporated in Hardys World and they included the Break Dance Place and Hardy’s Hotel along with a giant wheel called the Ferris wheel.
Food in Hardy’s World
We had arrived in Hardy’s World at 10 A.M and now it was past 2.00 PM. With rumbling stomachs and raving appetites (triggered by all the rides and splashes) we walked towards the Hardy’s World Restaurant.Cozy brown floors, tan colored furniture and beautiful overhanging lights greeted us in the restaurant. The place looked more like the dining cabin of a 3 star hotel than the café of an amusement park. The comfortable couches seemed to welcome our aching limbs and overworked muscles. The menu was pretty impressive with a good selection of North Indian and Chinese Food. We ordered Butter Chicken and Tandoori Roti for ourselves which was pretty decent.
Kids had a lot of fun spraying Ketchup over the giant sized Hardy’s Pizza which they ordered. They spilled more than they ate while the staff kept on looking at them belligerent eyes. At the end we ordered Chocolate truffle and vanilla ice cream which tasted heavenly.
Hardy’s World will be remembered as a place which has the capacity to bring out our inner child and provide a fun break from the monotonous grind of life. We had a great time bonding with our kids in a fun environment after a long time.
